I'm really helpless on this one: I installed a triple INS Configuration in the CLS 747-200 which was working flawlessly all the time until today. Now it wont switch on anymore. Since the CLS 747 has APU permanently running ( I'd love to have a more complex 747-200 available) the INS should be powered as well. I don't understand that....

Anyone got some Idea about that?

Civa INS has its own simulated ground power unit and even if the CLS747 isn't powered INS remains working at ramp without problems at all.After the engine start you have to switch the power to the plane generators otherwise the INSs start using its own batteries and after about 20min the red batteries lights on the MSU panels will come on.Download a fresh copy of Civa INS and reinstall it.If problem persist post your panel .cfg.

Hmm, problem is still there after reinstall, I cant revive it, so here is my panel.cfg, at least the window-section because of the character limit...hope you see something I dont....if you need the rest of it, please let me know.

Sorry, does this mean I am not able to place the gauges where I want? because as far as I can see your suggestion only places them somewhere else? I implemented the whole 3 CDUs, update flags, flightplan loader and INS NAV MODE switches into the radio panel, which makes most sense to me...

Yes you implemented in the same window 3gauges=5  3gauges=6 3gauges=7 this is impossible and completly wrong.Moreover what does it mean to have a triple ins in the [window01] and a dual ins installation in the windows 08and09?  If you like to have a correct civa INS installation with the INS gauges into the [window01] you have to proceed  this way:

Tanks for your help, I made the recommended changes. Have to say that this was my first attempt to install the INS on an aircraft manually. ;)

However, the Units are still not powered. :( this is really mysterious because on my CS 707 the installed dual config works without problems, so the install itself should be OK. On the 747 it also did work for about 10 flights until now....

As last try  go to FS9/civa and delete the file 747200.isd.
Close FS9 and restart it.A new 747200.isd will be made and we hope that it will work.

btw, its FSX. Sorry, I forgot that.

OK, now everything is screwed up  :( the dummy INS gauges in the VC vanished for some reason and its still not working. For some reason the new profile file wasnt created.


sounds like a reinstallation.  :(


EDIT: reinstalling SP2 and 2.1 brought back the INS Unit in the VS, but still no luck with the power on issue.

Also the 747200.Ifd was not generated on restart.

Civa INS is fully compatible  with FSX.
Go to your [window00] in the panel.cfg and check the gauge 63.If you made the correction as I said it must be:

Now go to FSX/civa and check if the files
INS.gau
747-200.Isd
747-200.Ird
are present in the folder.

OK, so I just double checked all the corrections and files, and I can verify that the generation of the .idf-Files does not happen. INS.GAU is there however.....

OK, after various tries andchecking wether the line in the panel.cfg is ok, I can verify that my CIVA INS installation fails to generate an .isd file and therefore does not initialize properly. I dont have any idea why, because win7 DEP is off and I'm running FSX as admin.


hitting the test button after turning on the unit will light up the update flag, but all the displays stay dark.

Problem solved!


I did some research on how the INS was added to the Captain Sim 707 by the developers, and found out that the initialization gauge was not placed in the [window00] section, but in [VCockpit01]. This makes sense because the CS707 does not have a 2D panel.

with the gauge in [window00] the INS is only initialized when the main panel is viewed, since I fly the CLS 747 in VC only, using keyboard shortcuts to view radios, overhead and so on......the INS was never initialized.

So, for birds that are flown from the VC, it needs to be placed in the [Vcockpit01]. I dont remember if your manual mentioned this, if so, please accept my appologies. Otherwise maybe it should be added there.  ;)
