Title: CS B727
Post by Ken Boardman on May 2nd, 2014, 8:31pm

Hi Marco,
I can't get the Captain Sim B727 electrical system to transfer
power to the CIVA after engine start.  The CIVA works perfectly
(even the ADEU sub system) for about 15 minutes except
the CDUs' yellow battery light comes on after parking brakes
are released and taxi power is applied.  Then of course the CIVA
goes dead about 5 min after the red warning light appears.
I have the CIVA installed as dual redundant.
As a workaround,  Would it be possible to extend the time
that the CIVA system operates with it's own power indefinitely
so the CIVA will continue to function for whole flight?
I love the your CIVA system.  I used it for several years with
great success in the RFP B747-200 (triple redundant :)  Unfortunately
as you know, sadly there is no RFP B742 for FSX.  I've been trying hard
to get it to work properly in the Captain Sim B727 >  there is only
the system power transfer issue.  Also hope to get the CIVA
installed into the CS B-52.
I was trained on and repaired the CIVA as installed in the real world
SH-3D US Navy helicopters wayyyy back in the late 1960s.  As I
remember,  the CIVA was a very reliable system and needed very
little maintenance attention.  I think that it was dual redundant
in our helos.
Thank you for this wonderful system.
Best regards,

Are you sure that after the engine start it's not possible to close the generator relays to transfer the electrical power from APU to plane generators?I don't know the CS B727 but I can't image such orrible error made by the plane authors. It's possible to recognize in the image you posted the generator relays switches and I think by those switches after the engine start it's naturally possible to close the generator relays and power the plane electric system by the plane generators
have a look at

Thank you for the fast reply Gianfranco. And thank you for the CS link.
I found it very interesting and it gave me a few things to try.  Seems
there are obvious issues with the CS B727 electrical system.  I like
flying plane, and I love CIVA. And I did finally succeed last night
getting a full flight from GUAM (PGUM) to Kwajalein Atoll (PKWA)
with INS,  and no CDU yellow Battery caution light (YIPPEEE!!).
I typed up a "startup"  procedure / checklist and if it works for me
two more times I'll send you the checklist so you can share it with
other perplexed CS B727 users. I had to think wayyyy "outside the
box" on this,  and the solution is not very realistic, but......... :)
Best regards,
Ken

Hi Gianfranco,
Attached is a txt file of procedure I've developed for successful
use of your fine CIVA system with the Captain Sim B727.  Feel
free to share it with other perplexed "CS B727 Captain" users.
I was very thrilled when I finally got it working properly in
this aircraft.
Thank you again for this awesome INS system.
Best regards,
Ken Boardman

From what I understand Civa INS was not able to work with the newest version of CS 727...was this ever fixed?

I have been flying version 2.6.  I think that latest version
is 2.7 so I likely can't answer now.
