Title: Civa changes LAT/LONG

I put in the right LAT/LONG for waypoint 2, but the INS keeps changing it to something else...it wont take it?

Can you post the numbers on here EXACTLY as you are trying to enter them.

I put in N60 76.1/W 149 24.6 as waypoint 8 ...It loaded fine on the ground but at some point in flight it turned to 61 16.1 149 24.6

I tried to re-enter N60 76.1/W 149 24.6 but it changed it to 61 16.1 N 149 24.6 W

which was not the right location

I think your problem is you are trying to enter coordinates in decimal "degrees"

The Civa unit uses degrees, minutes and seconds.  (60 minutes in a degree).

N60 76 1 cannot be entered into the INS

For example you can enter N60 59 9 and the next highest latitude entry must be N61 00 0

Things like google maps use decimal degrees but  for aeronautical use stick to the traditional way.

she accepted the coordinates on the ground...but somewhere in flight it changed itself

how should N60 76.1/W 149 24.6 be entered?

That is the whole point... N60 76 1 is not a valid co-ordinate. There are only 60 minutes in a degree, you cannot have a number greater than 60 59 9 before the degree changes to 61 00 0

Any attempt to enter your co-ordinate results in it changing as soon as the insert button is pressed after the LON coordinates are entered.

Where are you getting that co-ordinate from ? A flight planner ?

This site will convert decimal minutes to standard minutes https://www.fcc.gov/media/radio/dms-decimal

No, to be accurate it is N 60 07.61  (60 degrees; 07 minutes; 61/hundreds of a minute.)

The CIVA INS takes entry in whole degrees and whole minutes and tenths of minutes. So you would enter that as N60076

As a side note, to be more technically accurate the seconds can also only go up to 59 , but the sim displays the seconds as a decimal of the minutes. But you need not worry about that.

It still doesnt explain why it accepted it on the ground but changed it on route...i need to know mistakes before I take off!...thanks for your help though...this thing is a ton of fun when it works...

The "core" of the INS is supposed to "wrap" coordinates as it happened to you.
What I don't understand is you saying "but at some point in flight it turned to...". It should correct the value immediately as soon as INSERT has been pressed.
I'll test it tonite at home and get back.

It doesn't accept it on the ground.  It will change when you press INSERT after having entered the LON entries... try it.
