INS Backlighting
May 24th, 2009, 4:21am

I was just wondering if anyone knew a way to backlight the INS?  Everything is dark, except for the displays of course, when flying at night even with the panel lights turned on.  I know that the panel lights really don't have anything to do with it, but I was hoping someone could help out.  I do a LOT of cargo flights with my VA, so a lot of it is in the 747-200 and at night.  Thanx!

hi,
I think that INSs are already backlighted.
Let make this check:
set the night in FS9,than put two INSs MSU switches to STBY position,
Go to the CDU INSs panel and look at difference between The two CDUs powered and the CDU unpowered.
You'll see in the INSs powered all CDU buttons lighted and  in the CDU unpowered all button lights off.

Thanx.  But that's not quite what I'm talking about.  The displays and buttons light up fine.  It's the lettering on the INS itself that I'm talking about.  The letters around the control knob and so on.  Make sense?

Use "Luminous" in panel.cfg (if I'm not wrong)

It's already in there Marco.  This is the entry:

[Color]
Day=255,255,255
Night=40, 28, 22
Luminous=255,198,154

 As you can see, it's already defined.  Ideas?

Ops! Smiley
Have you tried increasing "Night" values?

To see lights and backlit switches correctly at night you need to do something similar to this:-

<Case Value="0">
           <Image Name="RED_OFF.bmp" Luminous="0" ImageSizes="12,12"/>
        </Case>
           <Case Value="1">
           <Image Name="RED_ON.bmp" Bright="Yes" ImageSizes="12,12"/>
        </Case>
