INS Nav Switch
May 8th, 2010, 7:06pm

In the VC10 model there are 2 Cdu's and Msu's but only one nav switch which as far as I can tell operates the left CDU. I can change the nav switch in the panel.cfg to civa\INS!NavModeDual, instead of civa\INS!NavModeSingle but only the left switch functions on the Dual switch panel. How is it possible to make both switches function and operate their respective Cdu's?
(I know that it is not "actually" necessary, but as I have 2 Cdu's it makes sense to also have 2 switches).

hi,
you can, and I think it should be better, to change the NAV switch to NavModeDual.I cannot understand why the VC10 developpers have installed two INSs and only the NavModeSingle switch.Having only the single NAV switch if an INS#1 failure occurs and you have to shut down the INS#1 the navigation must be conducted looking at INS#2 and manually transferring the INS#2 navigation data to the panel instruments.To confirm what I'm saying during the flight, switch Off the INS#1.You'll be able to ascertain that the InsNavModeSingle switch will drop to Off and it isn't possible to switch it On anymore and you have to proceed manually helping yourself looking at INS#2 data.

Post the panel.cfg you're using, please, so we can check what's wrong/missing!

This is how it appears in my cfg. file.
Code:
gauge78=F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\civa\INS!NavModeDual,  991,4,60,47

In the VC10 model the navmode switch is so tiny as to be almost invisible. So I moved it to the top of the main panel amd increased its size. You need to do something similar.

PS The switches won't work until you set the INS on STBY or align.
