Loading Present Position
Nov 5th, 2012, 5:22pm

I'm experiencing a problem I've never had before. When I load the present posn of the SSTSim Concorde (SP1) in to the INS using Shift+Z as the data source, after entering the longitude my latitude changes.

eg - I enter

N51*8.71 - enter
W0*12.7 - enter

after pressing 'enter' for the second time the latitude changes to

N52*27.1.

I have uninstalled CIVA and FS9 and reinstalled but it keeps happening.

BTW I am using W7

The problem is latitude format: N51*8.71

You should enter that as N 51 08 7 and not N 51 87 1

If you enter it as 51 87 1 the INS wraps it (minute degrees cannot be greater than 60) 87-60 = 27 and increments the degrees value from 51 to 52 so that it will become 52 27 1 (this is a "hidden" feature the real INS had too!).

So to solve the problem enter it as N 5 1 0 8 7

Hope this helps!
Best regards
Marco

That's fixed it, thanks.

It was a silly mistake to make, I've been using CIVA INS for years without a problem. After not using FS for a while,  I seem to have forgotten the basics.
