Title: External Version Post by Adrian19 on Apr 27th, 2008, 5:39am Hi Marco & Gianfranco, a thought occured to me a while ago, that a hardware CDU & MSU would be far cheaper to build, than the present offerings on the market for hardware FMC's. It would only require a few buttons, switches and 7seg LED's plus the interfacing hardware, all of which can be found relatively cheaply. The thing that can't be found so easily is the software, and I wondered if you had, or might, consider an external version of CIVA connecting through WideFS, that could be interfaced to hardware buttons and switches, etc. Regards .............Adrian W. |
Title: Re: External Version Post by Marco Ravanello on Apr 27th, 2008, 11:23am Adrian, are you familiar with building such kind of hardware devices, including writing firmware code? Thanks, Marco |
Title: Re: External Version Post by Adrian19 on Apr 27th, 2008, 1:39pm Hi Marco, the physical device wouldn't be too difficult, a PCB with the buttons, rotary switches and LED's in the right place. Interfacing could be done through IOCards or similar to send keypresses to the INS software which could be standalone on a networked PC, similar to vasFMC. It was just a thought ;), not a definate request ;D. Regards ............Adrian W. |
