Title: DME Updating Post by vololiberista on May 16th, 2010, 7:03pm When I wish to do a DME update I select a waypoint number for the VOR/DME. Am I correct in assuming that if I choose e.g. waypoint 1, it is a different waypoint 1 to that entered when setting up the navigation waypoints? In other words there could be two waypoint 1's in the INS memory. One used for navigation and the other used for updating. vololiberista |
Title: Re: DME Updating Post by Gianfranco Corrias on May 17th, 2010, 9:47am hi, When you enter the DME Updating mode with a right mouse clicking on keys 3&9 INS continues to navigate but from now on until you exit the DME Updating mode all data you enter into the INS are related to the DME Updating. If you have chosen the waypoint 1 to enter the desired DME coordinates for the INS these coordinates have nothing to do with the waypoint 1 already loaded following the flight plan but are only referred to the DME Updating. Title: Re: DME Updating Post by Jaybird on Jul 13th, 2010, 9:29pm Gianfraco, Just curious, if you enter DME Updating mode, can you then use the card reader and load the ADW or whatever its called, and thus automatically populate all the DME slots? Sorry if this is covered, I have done things manually and it works fine, but I just wondered if it could be made this quick and easy? Thanks, J |
Title: Re: DME Updating Post by Gianfranco Corrias on Jul 14th, 2010, 9:13am hi, if you enter the DME updating mode before to use the CDU for other duties you have first exit the DME updating mode as written in the Operations Manual. Gianfranco |
Title: Re: DME Updating Post by vololiberista on Jul 14th, 2010, 7:50pm When you first use the ADEU that is when you enter "all" the DME update waypoints for your entire flight. In other words you only need to do it the once. The other waypoint cards can be entered when necessary while the ADU's are updating. As each DME waypoint comes into range select it on the ADU as per the manuel. Once the ADU is tracking it return the unit to other duties. Don't try to upload normal waypoints from the ADEU whilst the ADU is still in the DME insert mode. vololiberista |
