Title: Dreamfleet 727  SEVERAL PROBLEMS
Post by Benedettini on Jun 23rd, 2010, 8:33pm

-I switch the knob to WPT,and fill the WPT 0 as current POS. But,i made a mistake(major mistake, like N43390 instead 46390),and HOW TO RECHANGE IT?  Right Cl. 3-9 not works

-When I switched AP to AUX NAV, suddenly all my wpt settings are disappeared!!! Why?

-How do you route WPTs to AP in Sperry SP50 one for DF722?

-Does 2 INS need to be in INS NAV when routing?

The manuals are way toooooo complicated..

Hi,
1-You never have to insert the present position in the waypoint 0.
When the ramp position has been inserted automatically the same position is set as Waypoint zero. When the plane starts to navigate, automatically the waypoint 0 will be updated and always, during the flight, the waypoint 0 is the present position. It isn't possible to correct your error. In this case the INS feel the position difference and red WARN light with error codes will come out.
2-I don't know your plane so I don't know what is AUX NAV .
3-IF YOUR AUTOPILOT IS STANDARD(not custom one) switching on the
desired NAVMODE swicth the Autopilot will navigate properly following the loaded waypoints.
4-No. You have to choise your desired INS in command and switch on the related NAVMODE switch.
This is a professional gauge you cannot operate without to study the manual otherwise you'll have in the future many other questions to ask.

Aux Nav in the DF 727 means use the GPS for navigation.

My question is why you would do that :)

I have the INS installed in my DF, used Meatwater's app, and it
works flawlessly, I use dual DME updating and guidance is just
spot on.

Thanks for such an awesome piece of software!!

I have just installed the INS into my DF727. I have not flown yet with it, but the alignment went without problem. However there is something strange. The two little switches that are used to select the active uint are not switchable. Whatever I do they are always in down position. Is that normal? Aren't they supposed to be switchable? :-? Or are these switches become usable after AP activation?

If I recall correctly, in order to have a "NAV Switch" working, the corresponding INS unit must be in NAV (READY) Mode.

Yeah, that is correct. After the alignment is complete and I switch the mode selectors to NAV the switches do work!  :D

I have now a different question in connection with 727 and INS.

I have read somewhere on this site that in case of a dual INS system one unit is connected to autopilot A, while the other to autopilot B. As far as I know 727s were equipped with a single autopilot, so in this case the second unit is only a backup? I mean that in reality if a 727 was fitted with INS, there was only one unit, or there were two of them? If there were two both of them were connected to the single autopilot, I believe.   ;)
