Title: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 1st, 2016, 7:25pm I get this same error everytime i align...no engines on or aircraft movement... http://www.freeuploadsite.com/do.php?img=97204 |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Peter Rabbit on Nov 2nd, 2016, 5:43am Can you post EXACTLY how you are entering the POS co-ordinates, including what keys you are pressing between LAT LON entries Look at this thread https://www.simufly.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1414410194 Also remember that the INSERT light will remain lit after you insert the LAT coordinates and will only extinguish after you INSERT the LON coordinates. This is a different behaviour to entering waypoints. |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 2nd, 2016, 12:07pm ive been using this gauge correctly for many years...and it will align if i start at another position... the problem seems to be that it will not align if you start at the same position as last alignment is there a work around?....repeating flights is common in flight simulation...as it is useful for training |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Peter Rabbit on Nov 2nd, 2016, 7:45pm Never had that happen, you will have to wait for one of the experts to answer. Will it align if you change the lat/lon very slightly ? |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 2nd, 2016, 8:43pm when i start a new flight the ins shows the last position...i remember it not liking this in the past if i was doing a flight over...can i erase the memory so that it shows all zeros when i start a new flight? |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Peter Rabbit on Nov 2nd, 2016, 9:04pm Never seen that. Are you loading a saved flight when this happens ? |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 3rd, 2016, 1:23am i needed to do the same flight over many times due to failures along the way....Departure is KSFO...Destination is PANC...every time i do the flight over...the KSFO coordinates are already there...i think Civa reads this as a mistake and wont align....can i wipe the memory before the flight? |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Peter Rabbit on Nov 3rd, 2016, 7:49am Try it without using a saved flight |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 3rd, 2016, 10:14am its not saved...i start from scratch every time...but from the same departure |

What error is it? (Action & Malfunction codes)? |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 3rd, 2016, 3:24pm i put up a pic of the readout earlier in the post...can you view it? |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Marco Ravanello on Nov 3rd, 2016, 3:57pm Yes I can see it but it shows only Action Code 04. I need to know also the Malfunction code (press TEST to display it). Also you are missing the CIVA font. Please find it attached and copy the file into your "FSROOT"/Font (or "Fonts") subfolder. |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Marco Ravanello on Nov 3rd, 2016, 3:59pm Sorry I missed the attachment ::) here it is |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 3rd, 2016, 6:30pm When I press test all the led's light...i dont see another code...thanks for the font! |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Marco Ravanello on Nov 3rd, 2016, 6:39pm Sorry but 04 is NOT a Action Code, I was wrong. You have NO errors pending so...what kind of error are you getting? You wrote the INS does not "align", did you mean you never get the green "READY NAV" light on the MSU? Please post here the content of panel.cfg you're using! |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 3rd, 2016, 6:48pm ill put up the panel cfg if you think it will help...give me some time please the green light comes on fine...but the error im getting is that the alert light keeps flashing when i switch to nav...what is going on if there are no errors pending? |

From OperationsManual.pdf: 12 ALERT light Illuminates amber two minutes before airplane reaches TO waypoint. Flashes when, with AUTO-MAN switch positioned in MAN, the TO waypoint has been reached and passed. This is an alert to pilots that switching leg must be manually carried out. If AUTO/MAN selector is in the AUTO position the light will extinguish as soon as leg switching occurs. Once again I think this behavior could be caused by incorrect panel.cfg entries so please post the content of the file you're using to make 100% sure it is correct. |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 4th, 2016, 10:07am The alert light flashes when i switch from align to nav while on the ground... that is the issue....the alert illuminates in the air before reaching waypoint is working well, and tracking...also, sometimes the alignment works perfectly...i cant find a consistent reason here is my cfg...thanks for taking a look // FS2004 Classic B747-200 Series Analog Panel (c) // Web Site: www.panelshop.com // Panel Version 2.2 16 June, 2004 (c) // Copyrighted. Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Marco Ravanello on Nov 6th, 2016, 6:47pm Please zip Vmax742.isd (to be found on the Civa subfolder) and post it here. Then delete it and retry. |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 14th, 2016, 10:45pm well she did it again...flashing alert when switching to nav after alignment...what does this mean? i deleted theVmax742.Isd and still same error... what does flashing alert when switching to nav indicate? here is the file |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by Marco Ravanello on Nov 15th, 2016, 9:28am It means that "next leg" does not exists (or, better, has not been defined). A "leg" is the segment connecting 2 defined waypoints. So it looks like you're setting the INS to NAV before entering waypoints. At that point the INS start signaling to the crew (you) that it will NOT be able to navigate since no waypoints were defined. In addition to the blinking ALERT light on the CDU you should also see the INS continuosly scanning waypoints looking for a valid leg. On the FromTo display you should see the sequence 01...21...23...43...45...65...67...87...89... It is not necessary to return to ALIGN to enter waypoints. Enter them while in NAV (manually or using ADEU) and then make sure the active leg is the 01 by pressing: WPCHG 0 1 INSERT. |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 15th, 2016, 8:01pm yes...i switch to nav before inputting waypoints...i dont want to spend 20 minutes concentrating on exact numbers just to find out that the initial align didnt take...but ive been doing it this way for a long time without this problem? |

I believe that's impossible, CIVA gauges haven't been modified since 2007 and the code driving ALERT blinking has been there since the original 1.00 release in 2003 (I checked it). Also to speed up alignment you could use the fast align button (click on the upper right screw on the MSU to enable it on all installed units). That's not "so" fake :), the actual B747 simulators had it, to avoid wasting almost half an hour (time and money) just waiting for the INS to align. |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 16th, 2016, 4:46am marco, im telling you i do it that way with no problems...i just did it today...i go to nav after align...and then do my waypoints...and it works with no alert... |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 16th, 2016, 4:50am i think i may have it solved...i deactivated active sky and she gave no alert when switching to nav... also...with active sky enabled, the airspeed indicators shows 20kts while parked...and the time to next waypoint readout on the ins shows something like 765 minutes with active sky deactivated...the ASI shows 0 kts...and the ins time to waypoint shows 9999 could the wind while parked be confusing the ins during align? |

Definitely YES! This is actually a bug in the INS which checks IAS even when the aircraft is on ground. I already modified the code to use an internal FS variable which is something like "forward ground velocity" (don't remember exactly now) in order NOT to be influenced by the wind component. Next version will correct this. What looks strange to me is that you were actually able to align the INS. It should complain and raise 04-57 Action and Malfunction codes meaning "Taxi during alignment" |
Title: Re: Civa Wont align Post by mllgrennman on Nov 17th, 2016, 1:04am i dont get it either...shouldnt wind while parked make a moving while aligning error...resulting in a red light? for some reason the wind while parked makes a no waypoint error...resulting in the flashing yellow maybe it has something to do with the time to next waypoint changing? i dont know...but im glad i can prevent it....its no big deal to hold off on weather until after alignment.. |

I agree, for the moment that is the only workaround you could use. Then wait for next CIVA version which will hopefully solve the wind problem |
