Question on Alignment B737-200 Tinmouse
Jan 1st, 2008, 3:44am

Hi Guys,

Just starting to use the INS so sorry if this has been asked - I tried a search.

I think I have done the alignment properly - using Shift-Z and waiting until the nav is ok, but when I am flying the acft appears to be tracking about 1/2 a mile off the track and misses waypoints and navaids by that amount - it turns ok and obtains new tracks but is just paralleling the planned track.

What have I done wrong?

Scott

P.S. great addon for MSFS

Happy new year,
I understood that the aligment is OK, the ready Nav LT comes on and the MSU selector has been set on NAV position.
After T.O. try the following procedure:
1- push in sequence  WPT CHG  0-X (X stands for the waypoint number you are going to).
2-Check that on the FROM-TO display O-X appear.
3-Then push INSERT checking also that the INSERT LT goes out.
4-Connect by the INS NAV MODE SEL the desired INS to the autopilot Checking that the autopilot is working in HDG mode.
The INS should proceed to the X waypoint.

Thank you Gianfranco,

I tried it again and I think it comes down to a poor initial alignment.

I compared the inflight ShiftZ coords with the INS and the INS was about by about 1Degree of Lat (so I guess about 1 mile) when I did it again I was more careful with the alignment and it was much more accurate (still a little off but better for 1 x INS navigation - using the B737 Tinmouse with one INS unit).

I have posted the same message on the tinmouse forum as I am still having a few misunderstandings with how the INS couples to the Flight Director and AP of the Tinmouse.

Thanks
Again.

hi,
I cannot understand which is your problem with the alignment but any way 1 degree of LAT corresponds at 60 NM.If you like to have a better help post your panel.cfg of your Timouse plan and describe step by step your Alignment  method.
