Can not get code 02 63 go away
Mar 1st, 2008, 1:56pm

Hello Gents

I have just started with the INS and was already busy  for one day .
Came up with a situation of which I don't know how to handle.
Did the TUT flight (KBOS - KMIA) in the B737-400 - FS9, had to save the flight and cont. it  this morning. Now after several hours I am still not flying for I keep getting a Red Warn light and codes 2 63. Whatever I do I can not get them out.
I found out that when saving the flight the info of the INS is not saved at the same time, so that has to be done separately.
So I continued the flight from an intermediate airport, in this case ORF.
This means I have to align the INS again using this airport coordinates.
Here is where the trouble starts.
I even started all over again but with no results.

Then there is also the situation of putting the gauges at some place on the panel. How do I find the coordinates for the spot where I will have the gauges.?????

Is there some one who can help me out.

Regards

Carlos

Hi,
First of all, park your aircraft, apply Ctrl + ; to have the park brakes effective, then shut down your engines. Otherwise to align the INS will be difficult, while you do this the aircraft haven't to move, you will avoid any error code.

To have the FS9 coordinated appearance : Shift + Z

You could with your mouse continious left clic press and move the window INS gauge situation on the screen.

So now to know what mean the error code, you should take a look on the PDF ActionAndMalfunctionCodesCompact, you will find it :
Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Civa\Docs.  Wink

Also to save a flight you have to read this : SituationSaveAndReload, again there :
Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Civa\Docs.

To be expert you should read all PDF manuals and
you could also see this vidéo will explain how to use INS :

Hope this will help you

I have seen those videos titled "INS Tutorial" on YouTube.com and I must say that, although they're not totally incorrect, they're far from representing a good, informational, visual guide. They have not been made by us, nor they are officially "endorsed" by us.

I never had the chance to discuss about these videos with Gianfranco but I'm sure his verdict would be even more negative than mine  Smiley

Hello Steveric

I think you mean CTRL+. (dot) for the park breaks.
Perhaps it is indeed the engines running while aligning the INS.
What looks strange to me is that after I inserted the POS 0 coordinates and switch to align, everything goes well until I start inserting the other way points from No 1 - 9. After the 3 way point insertion I start getting the red warning lite and the code 02 - 63.
But tomorrow I'll will start with engines off. I think that might help, for the first time I succeeded but the engines where off.

Thanks, I'll let you know

Trying to answer original Carlo's questions...

If you look at the docs, 02 63 is a (fatal) randomly generated failure, which could in fact be triggered also by some unusual situations (so wrong conditions) of the INS.

If the 02 63 you experienced was in fact triggered by the random failure generator then you were simply not very lucky Sad , the virtual hardware you had on board failed, it may happen!

There is a specific procedure to save INS state, see SituationSaveAndReload.pdf

Are you sure you entered them correctly?

There is a "trick"! You should locate the panel main bitmap, which is generally in the same folder where the panel.cfg is. If you edit it with any image editing or viewing software, you could easily find out the coordinates of the UPPER RIGHT corner where the gauge you want to place should stand. You could also, from that point, open up a selection as a rectangle, to find out height and length you'll have to specify, in panel.cfg, as gauge's dimensions. You will for sure not get them right at the first try, you'll need some more tries to refine the coordinates, but it is quite easy. Otherwise you can buy FS Panel Studio.

Ctrl+. and Ctrl+; will give you exactly the same, parking brakes release or not.

>But tomorrow I'll will start with engines off. I think that might help, for the first time I succeeded but the engines where off.

And with Generator on, otherwise...

Marco,
I'm agree this vidéo give you a little idea not a complete one. But at the beginning should be better to understand something, because the only safe way, it's to practice and practice again.

Hello Steveric

When I do a CTRL + ; I get a reset of the FS9.
Anyhow after a good nights rest IO started fresh this morning and having the engines out and waiting for 5 min to warm th INS up everything wnet smooth.
I even did a save and reload and DME updating without troubles.

Question: " Why should we have DME cards". Does that mean all the waypoints are VOR/DMEs, and what is it used for????
Can't we insert waypoint and DMEs together?
Say point 2 is a fix and point 3 is a DME etc.
In most cases the flightplan will have far more fixes than VOR/DMEs.

How do I get the LAT/LONG of a VOR/DME??
If the DME is at an airport, do I take the airprt LAT/LONG???
The map in FS9 doesn't gives the LAT/LONG of a DME at an airport.

Anyhow this was a good start and now I will try the TUT of the SSTSIM Concorde, which will even be a bigger job to accomplisch.
Thanks to all of you, helping me out.
Sure I will have some more questions later.

Kind regards

Carlos
