Exiting and Returning Tripple Mix
Mar 17th, 2008, 4:47pm

Hi there!

Firstly I would like to congratulate to all the developers from this marvelous add-on. Greate piece of software. It bring me good memories from my childhood when I used to go to my home airport and visit German Cargo's DC-8 cockpit and they used these INSs  Wink

Today, I fly them with POSKY 747-300 and RFP panel merged.

My question is: all alignment and waypoints information are inserted correctly. While in flight I can read that all CDUs show XTK = 0. Reading the operation manual I find that to change them to single mix, I just turn to DSTK / STS, press 4 and INSERT for every CDU.

Now I can see that the XTKs are different, since every CDU is calculating the route through its own gyros.

BUT, if I want to return them to tripple mix mode (where each CDU provide its position to generate a fourth one), I press 5 and INSERT. Now the the XTKs are still diferent from each other. It seems that each CDU is calculating the route by itself and not by the fourth one (tripple mix). Is this behaviour normal?

Thanks for all help and best regards!

Thanks for your kind words, it's a pleasure for us to provide CIVA to "simmers" willing to learn how it works.

Before answering your question I'd like to ask you one thing: The procedure to exit/enter TripleMix you described is wrong. It's actually the opposite: "MI4" means TripleMix is ENABLED, "MI5" means it is DISABLED, so if you command MI5 it will disable TripleMixing, if you command MI4 you're enabling it.

Now the question: Was it a typing mistake made by you or are you really performing the wrong procedure?

Also remember there is the EasyOn process involved in these phases, so it may take some time to "stabilize".

And Version 1.50 made EasyOn times more realistic (as from data provided from Gianfranco), text taken from history.txt file:

- Problem #0020 February 2007
EasyOn transition speed used entering TripleMix and MI5 operation
modes was too high. It has been lowered from about 2.5 NMs/h to 0.6
NM/h to better reflect the way the real unit works.

so they're now set to 0.6 NM per HOUR! If an INS position is just one mile off TripleMix calculated position it will take almost 2 hours to completely revert back to INU own displayed position.

Regards
Marco

Hi Marco!

Is, it was indeed a typo. I press 5 to exit tripple Mix and 4 to return to it!

Thanks a lot!
