Kochmedia Concorde CIVA turns off
Dec 23rd, 2008, 10:43pm

Hello guys,
maybe someone could help me.
I can get CIVA working, position alignement, waypoints, NAV, all ok but...
after TO INS does not affect autopilot hdg and after about 5 mins it turns off, no lights, no digits. Nothing to do to switch it on again.
I thought it could be low battery even if engines were working so i checked in FSUIPC battery long life. Nothing.
Thanks in advance for your help.

If the CDU powers off then yes, it means its own battery (which has nothing to do with FS "aircraft" battery, so FSUIPC is not involved here) is out of power.
Engines were working for sure if you took off  Wink but sounds like the generators were OFF, that's why the INS switched to its own battery.

This could be a different problem. You must check which VERSION of CIVA the Kochmedia Concorde package requires (because not all CIVAs are compatible). Once you know that please come back here and let us know which version you need, I'll send it to you via email.

Ciao

Ok Marco I'll check it out about electric power.

Kochmedia Concorde does not say anything more than "get the latest version of..", i may say this is the 2003 December version of the plane (and still goodlooking).
Now i have both 1.40 and 1.51, maybe it's an earlier one.
Thanks for your kind and fast reply.
Grazie Ciao, (versione inglese di cortesia verso i tuoi lettori).

Marco,
is the way INS communicate to AP the same as FSNavigator does with its flightplan? I ask you this as even with FSNav i can't force my autopilot to keep the route. I have this problem with Conc only, default 737 with INS flyies great!!! If so maybe some file could be missing in my system. Thanks and have you all a Merry Xmas and Happy 2009.

Good question. And the answer is: "I don't know" Smiley

It all depends if the panel developer integrated CIVA into the gauges (using the CIVA SDK) or if CIVA is just added and there is no "link" between CIVA and the gauges.

In the first case (integrated CIVA) you will have to match the exact CIVA version they used, in the second case it should work with any CIVA version.

I think that if they have integrated CIVA into their gauge then very probably the NavMode gauge would not be required (as they supply an equivalent one), so try searching in panel.cfg for "INS!NavModeTriple", if you can't find it then CIVA has been, almost for sure, "integrated". In such case, if you have a mailbox capable of accepting few megabytes I can send you all major releases so that you can try to find the exact one. Let me know (ASAP as I'm going on holiday the 28th..otherwise you'll have to wait till the 7th of jan09).

Thanks and Merry Christmas and happy 2009 to you as well!
Kind regards
Marco

Ok so at last I solved my problem.
Now i can use CIVA151, full operational and i like to say that i can fly FL500, mach 2,03, SIMULATION RATE 8x!!! INS keeps my plane perfectly onroute.
Thanks Marco your ideas helped me solving the trouble.
It was simple at last: 1) not INS SEL+HDG but INS SEL3+INS (conc panel has this implementation), 2) since i can start my engines only from a cold and dark cockpit, when i get all 4 engines running, just a moment before TO i press CTRL+E and i think this turns on gens even if i have no gens switches in my panel, so no more out of battery power.
Bye for now and feel free to contact me if you need a beta tester.
