Need some help guys... I can't get the CDUs to accept the second part of my present location during setup.
I've just installed the gauges with no problems, and set up the default 737-400 panel. The aircraft and panel load fine. I'm trying to work through the tutorial flight KBOS-KMIA. Sitting at the gate in KBOS, I've turned the three MSU to standby, checked for malfunction codes, checked the ID (11 17) in all three CDUs, checked the TEST button, with all being OK as per the tutorial.
I've then turned the CDU selectors to POS to insert the present location. I've used SHIFT+Z to get my position, N 42 21.6 W 71 01.1 (gate B18). As instructed, I've pressed W 4 2 2 1 6 INSERT (which then extinguishes) but then the keypad will not allow any other entries. It's as though it has stopped recognizing inputs. I've tried using Keyboard Capture Mode (using my PC's keyboard) with the same result. I've tried shutting down the flight, and the whole FS9, but the problem is the same. I can enter the first half of the location, but that's it. I then get a WARN light on CDU #1 but none of the others.
I've noticed that after entering the first part of the location (W 4 2 2 1 6) the first time I click on INSERT nothing happens, when I press it a second time the INSERT light goes out. The problem is the same with either engines running or shut down.
Any suggestions? Is there any way to purge the system and start over (the entered digits remain in the system even after rebooting FS9).
